One thing leads to another.... and then I just go completely out of control. Heh.

So, last Friday, I made all the food for a friend's party. It was meant to be a "easy to eat standing up but still enough to get you stuffed" affair, for 25 people. There were lots of leftovers, so its possible that if you have a party at 8pm you need to tell the guests specifically not to eat beforehand..... but anyway, here's what I made:

Salads
**Jicama salad with orange, red onion, and lime
*Watermelon tomato salad with spicy feta dressing

Dips (served with assortment of breads)
**Bean and roasted black walnut pate
*Roasted squash cumin
*Goat cheese ricotta terrine

Small things
Artichoke almond involtini
Sesame chicken bites with sweet hoisin sauce

Sweets
*Lemon Pudding Cakes
*Cardamom shortbread with blackberry preserves

*vegetarian
**vegan

Everything went over well, so that was a huge relief. I was of course worried that something would be horrible, everything would be just so-so, all kinds of things like that. But I guess staying up late 2 nights beforehand really helped - everything turned out fine. One small exception is that the chicken bite things were incredibly picky to make. Got oil spatters all over the damn kitchen. Perhaps a deep-fryer would work better next time. They went over very well, so I'm sure I'll make them again at some point.

I'm still eating some of the leftovers that the host didn't want to keep. Yummy.
