Friday, July 15
Illi-noisy
On my way off for the weekend to the sweltering muck that is the midwest in late July. Oh, but its all for a good cause.... attending a birthday party for a 90 year old. I hope someone throws me a damn good bash when I make it that far, and then I'll throw the granddaddy of all parties for my own 100th, complete with scads of whatever foods I'm still able to eat - gourmet, of course.
The menu might read like this (not necessarily in this order): terrine de foie gras oysters on the half shell various savory foams and gelees spirited seasonal fruit gelatins chocolate pot de creme ...and of course, tons of exotic ice creams like cardamom and beet and fennel and sweet potato... yum.
What foods will you still look forward to when your teeth are long gone? Many, I hope. Old age cuisine just isn't worth staying around for when its green Jell-O and terrine de gato chow.
