Sushi Buzz
I became contemplative today driving home after having lunch for the first time at Yen Ching, a Sushi/Korean/Szechwan restaurant located at Montgomery & Wyoming.

During that lunch my friends asked if I was feeling a buzz from the raw fish consumption and I had to say, "no". They described it as this rush that lasts up to an hour after they eat a meal of sushi.

Thinking about this, I replied that often after having sushi I feel very ephemeral and light, like I have sated my base consumptive needs perfectly and my gullet is at one with the universe. Or rather, I meant that, and I actually said, "I feel light afterwards, does that count?"

Either way, I do get a good feeling after having a mostly-Nigiri lunch. Jennifer James described her idea of a good eating experience as one where you have energy afterwards to walk the dog around the block and you are not tempted for even one moment to break out the "fat pants" as part of your post-gluttony punishment.

My only current 'punishment' is, after having eaten an afternoon snack of some frozen yogurt, a case of the sushi burps - and mixed with a light taste of vanilla yogurt they are strange indeed. Doesn't make me regret either, though.
