Feliz cumpleaņos!

To Janice M. Feucht, the aunt who shaped my younger years in so many ways;
Who introduced our meagerly-trained palates to hummus, and baba ghanoush, and bruschetta, and appetizers fer gawd's sake, and stuffed mushrooms, and curry, and THAI food, and stirring cheddar into scrambled eggs to make them fluffy, and salsa on scrambled eggs, and iced coffee, and good takeout pizza (Pizza Pit!), and Indian food, and just plain eating food because it tastes good, not because it was on sale or you were hungry and needed to eat something filling;

Who showed me around "big cities" like Fond du Lac and Madison and Port Washington and when those couldn't contain us we had to eat POOD ON THE FLANE on our way to Germany while drinking WOTTLES OF BINE (and I was only 16, the horror!);
Who took me camping at Harrington Beach near a quarry lake with fish 5 feet long that scared the boogers out of me;

Who taught us the wonderful song with the chorus, "Great Green Globs of Greasy Grimy Gopher Guts";
Who completely lost her shit when finding spiders in the out-house on family vacations;
 Who came along on those family vacations much to the amusement and delight of me;

Who allowed me to confide some of my adolescent and early-adulthood gossip and questions about life in general;

Who is a total spaz in a good way, especially every year on Christmas Eve after many glasses of wine have circulated the room and its 11:30 and we should all go to sleep but we're still talking and our eyes are starting to get heavy....

Happy 50th Birthday, Jan.
Much love, Andrea
Now kiss my butt because for a few days, you're famous! Heh heh heh...
